The BassMint, Incorporated

The BassMint, Inc was formed in 1996 to focus on:  (1) documentation of, (2) performances by, and (3) education about the double bass; this mission now includes photography!!

Historically, the bass has been and still is largely support in almost any instrumentation.  At the same time, technical facility on the double bass has progressed (arguably) further in the past 50yrs than on any other instrument; this is according to Milt "Judge" Hinton and Ray Brown, both of whom told this to me personally.  They also spoke in detail about how audiences and musicians have changed.

So, this is an effort to highlight the bass, provide examples of its uses, and inspire you to play or at least appreciate more.
